
Solo Performance Platform
Young musicians are invited to our Solo Performance Platform. Performing is fantastic way for young musicians to gain experience and develop confidence.
Children from over 20 Waltham Forest schools will come together to perform in eleven concerts across Waltham Forest from 30th June to 12th July 2025.
Concert programme:
1) Primary School Showcase (North)
Monday 30th June, 11.00am - 12midday
At Ss Peter and Paul Church, Chingford E4 7EN
Our Primary School Showcase brings children together to raise the roof and enjoy singing in a massed choir. Choirs will be accompanied by a live band who will perform and demonstrate their instruments to the children.

2. Monday Music School Monday Ensembles Summer Concert
Monday 30th June, 7pm – 8pm
At Leyton Sixth Form College, Leyton E10 6E

Bands from Waltham Forest Music School come together to celebrate and showcase their music including the Guitar Groups, Funk in the Forest and Rockit!

3) and 4) ‘This is Carmen’
Wednesday 2nd July, and Thursday 3rd July, performances at 6-7pm
At Big Penny Social in Walthamstow, E17 6AL.
Our Over 600 young people will perform in a special celebration of Carmen. This unique production will retell the story of Carmen through the life of composer George Bizet and feature newly composed music alongside the popular Habanera and Toreador.

Carmen is the third opera that Waltham Forest Music Service has partnered on with the Royal Ballet and Opera, introducing young people to the world of opera.
Tickets: Parents/carers and pupils from schools performing will receive further information from their school.

At St Saviour’s Church, 210 Markhouse Rd, E17 8EP

6) Pulse and Pattern Concert and Workshop with Mbilla Arts
Friday 4th July, Concert at 4pm - 5pm
At St Saviour’s Church, 210 Markhouse Rd, E17 8EP
Our Pulse and Pattern project brings together primary school children to play and perform percussion. Children will rehearse together and then perform in a concert.

7) Recorders and Toots Jam
Tuesday 8th July, 11am - 11.45am
At St Saviour’s Church, 210 Markhouse Rd, E17 8EP
A concert for children who learn recorder and toot with their class in school as part of our whole class instrumental programme. Children will join with other schools to experience the joy and pleasure of playing in a massed instrumental group.

Acoustic ensembles from Waltham Forest Music School come together to celebrate and showcase their music including Next Steps, String Band, Wind Band and Beginner Ensemble.

10. Positive Change Choir Secondary Singing Showcase
Thursday 10th July, 6pm – 6.45pm
At St Saviour’s Church, 210 Markhouse Rd, E17 8EP
Choirs and bands from Secondary Schools across the borough will come together to rehearse and perform music together. In partnership with London Youth Choirs.

11. Summer Solo Performance Platform

A recital opportunity for young instrumentalists and vocalists of any age, instrument or standard to perform in front of an audience in the beautiful setting of St Andrew’s.
